Awesome Knife Set, July 26, 2011

This is a superb knife set, especially at this price. Being ceramic, the knives are super sharp and cut through most things effortlessly. The great thing about these knives is the edge on them is comparable to some of my top-end Japanese knives, but, unlike steel knives, they require no regular sharpening and oiling to keep them sharp and rust free. Other than cleaning them after use, these knives are virtually maintenance free.

Some people view ceramic knives inability to cut through hard things such as bone as a disadvantage, but who uses their best chef’s knife to cut through bone anyways. I know I don’t.

The knife block is just an additional bonus. It matches the red handles on the knives and has a sleek modern design, which looks great in my kitchen.

Bottom line: these knives are going to stay sharp for a long time and have a place in anyone’s kitchen.

Surprisingly Sharp and Durable!, July 26, 2011

I’ll be honest, from what I had heard in the past, ceramic knives fracture easily and this was one of my main concerns with this set. But despite my reservations, I had also heard how sharp they are and how well they maintain their edge. My current goto knife is a Messermeister Meridian Elite 8-Inch Chefs Knife which I love, but I’ve grown tired of sharpening it to maintain the razor edge I love.
Like I said I was very surprised at how sharp these knives are! They feel well balanced in my hand, not too heavy, nor are they too light. These knives will never replace my Messermeister for tasks like deboning which require rotational torque on the blade, but they weren’t meant to!
    I love em!

PS the knife block looks really cool as well.
